Get a Little Help From my Friends :D

I am desperately sleep deprived at the moment and my chest feels like it's being constricted by a tight rubber band, but I come to you to show you just how crazy my friend and I are.  I've known her for eleven years now and I can say she's my first true friend ever (I was pretty bad in the social department before that).

As you can see this post isn't about Apollo or Rosie (I'll need to bring everyone up to speed soon though) but about something I made last night that sums up our crazy friendship :P

Meet Cyphale:

Now before anyone says anything (as if anyone does on here >.> ) Cyphale is not a boy XD and I saw this picture and immediately thought of her so I had her type the way she did when I had her fake being my boyfriend at one time and put this together :P

That is all, I'm exhausted and in pain and really just want to curl up and watch some Vampire Knights.

Here and Now

It has been quite some time since I've blogged about anything and I have good reason for my absence.

So, as my last post explained, we've figured out what was up with Apollo and now we're back to where we once were months ago.  Actually I think we've gotten better than before.  Some people joke about all the time I spend with the two of them, but I know that if I hadn't spent so much time dedicated to riding Rosie and Apollo and working with Apollo then I wouldn't be as far as I am today.  I wouldn't have the sweet puppy dog I fell in love with in February.

Apollo's doing well, as stated above, and has even acquired his real summer coat.  If you thought the last time you saw him he was stunning wait until you see him now!

He's also grown taller in the past month or so; from 14.2-14.3 HH to nearly, if not already, 15 HH!

And that's all for now, it's late and I'm exhausted.

Problem Hopefully Solved!

Went to the barn tonight to figure out what has been up with Apollo.

And to conclude what I thought was an impossible fix is really my fault.

I forgot not to push him and I thought by pushing it meant loping him while on his back and trying to teach him barrel patterns right now.  When in reality it was all the jogging and fast work on the lunge line that I was doing with him.  He forgot the meaning of whoa and just thought, 'hey let's get going!'

So when I asked him to whoa when he wanted to go it ended in him rearing up and bucking me off.

Which brings us to a cross roads -- one that we've already made a decision for.

I'm going to stay at the other barn for a while until I grow more as a rider and so I feel comfortable in a controlled environment, though telling the other woman is going to be tough.  But my mom agrees that it would be safer to stay at the other barn since I have a green horse and I myself am a green rider.  I'm sorry but two trips to the emergency is enough for me this year (not saying I could end up there at any point this year) and next time I could likely break a bone.

Well there's an update for you, probably going to post more updates more frequently as we progress.

I Return!

It has been quite a while since I last blogged here (as a certain someone has continued to remind me) so here I am with a very large update.

So, where did I leave off last time...oh yes, I was doing this weekly update that I failed to do XD.

Well Apollo has been moved to the other barn, but sadly we're heading back to the barn he came from since lately he's been giving me a hard time, and by hard time I mean I've been to the hospital twice after he's bucked me off.  This second time I was told I have soft tissue damage in my hip and I think I have whiplash in my neck when my head hit the ground.

But let's back up to the fact that I have a second horse now, yes I bought a second horse.  Her name is Rosie and I've been eyeballing this mare ever since I saw her.

She's a Dark Bay Quarter Horse mare and she turned eight the beginning of this month.  There were a couple reasons to my madness in purchasing her.  One: she looks exactly like my old mare Ara (Even though Ara was an Arabian mare) and she even acts like her.  Two:  because her jog is so lovely :3 <3 p="">

So back to Apollo, he's being trailered back tomorrow morning and we're going to figure out why he's been bucking when we're about to do the one activity he enjoys; trail riding/adventuring.  He had his wolf teeth removed so it can't be his mouth, his feed isn't the problem either...I'm speculating his saddle since he's filling out more in the back end then the front, but whatever it is I hope we figure it out.  Any other horse I'd probably have given up the first buck, but Apollo's different; I'm afraid to lose him.  I was actually bawling, not because I was hurting, but because I started to think that maybe he was too much for me to handle and that I would have to give him up.  But I've been told not to worry that we'd figure out what's going on.  From someone Else's perspective they said he doesn't hate me because anyone could tell loves me.  And I can see it, hell I went to the barn to just see him and before I had reached the barn door he was approaching the fence.  I went into the field with him and he waited til I reached him and when I gave him a hug he did his little sideways hug with his neck.  Then before I left (I went into the barn to get something and by that time he'd moved into the far part of the field) my mom told me to call his name, so I did and he looked up at me, but I didn't persist since I had to get going.

Anyways, sob story behind me, here's an updated picture of the guy.

He's gotten his summer coat :D my lovely strawberry roan <3 p="">

Here he is with a nice shiny coat and well combed mane (courtesy of my mom)

So that is all for tonight, I took some painkillers and I'm about to pass out for the night, hopefully the next post isn't so far away.

April Showers, May Flowers (Hopefully)

This week has been pretty shitty in the weather department, rain every single day so far...

But I can't complain, lots of rain means maybe the hay fields will be better this year.

So anyways, this is my last month at the barn I've been boarding at since February.  I knew this wasn't going to be permanent, it was just until I had Apollo paid off, but I'm going to miss going back and seeing all the horses and going along the now familiar trails.  But I know I must move closer to home, though I know after April it won't be the last time I see them.

Now this week I've been working on my fear of falling into large puddles, yes I say my fear because Apollo can go through the water, but he hesitates because he senses I'm worried about the water; so he worries.  Let's just say I've quickly learned how to steer with just my legs and little with my reins. I'm thinking, though, since we're still having disagreements, that next time I'll hop off and walk through the large puddles as I lead him to show him that it's all okay to go through them.

I've decided recently to take a picture of Apollo each week to show how he's changing colour as he transitions from winter to summer coat.  So I will post a picture of his winter coat:

And now a picture of last week:

As you can see his becoming pink :D.

He is also making a funny face in the last pic due to the hay in his mouth O.o

I'll probably post again this week since I still need to get this weeks picture update :P  I'll keep you all posted as best as I can.

Broken Promises, A Brand-New Tomorrow

I thought I'd start this post off with a silly picture of Apollo; he was scratching an itch when I took this picture.

Anyways, my dad came out today to see us, the first time in a year (sad isn't it?) and weeks ago he said he'd bring my oldest half brother because he was interested in horses and wanted to ride.  So I planned a day where I board and was all excited to get him up on the horse.

I was so excited that I finally had a sibling into what I was into, even if he's 17 years younger than I am :|  But nonetheless, I excitedly told everyone and even went as far to announce my excitement on facebook (which rarely do I ever post status updates about coming events).

Then the day came and something happened.

My dad decided he wasn't going to bring my brother and didn't give a reason why.  He complains we don't see our other brothers enough, but then pulls shit like this.  I was beyond pissed, this was another thing he said he'd do that he didn't do.

Though, I blame myself for getting over excited about the whole thing.  I should have known my dad would do something like this.  Hell, he's done stuff like this before.

Like at Christmas, I was supposed to go up to see him and my half siblings and exchange gifts.  Well something came up and I couldn't go up.  He even went as far to say they weren't even celebrating Christmas.

Christmas day I go onto facebook and see a group of photos uploaded by him and guess what, it was him and his new family enjoying Christmas with her family.  It all summed up to the fact that they didn't have room for me to stay with them.  Let's just say last Christmas was the worst Christmas I'd ever had.

So why should I be surprised that he didn't bring my half brother?  Maybe I thought he'd changed, maybe there was a tiny sliver of hope that he was going to be the father I used to remember eleven years ago.

Now, back to the rest of my day.

We went to the barn after eating lunch and only spent a few minutes because my dad wore white shoes to a barn with a muddy barn yard.... He's such a city slicker...

Then he brought me and my brother home and left...we spent maybe 2 1/2 hours with him?  He then proceeds to call me to say that he's 'sorry' for not spending so much time with us because of the long drive home.  Come on, I have a cousin who probably drives a longer distance than he does and they spend the day with us.

So this summer, I guess we must go up to his place because he complains we never stay at his place, and I'm going to pull the same stunt.  We'll stay for an hour then say we have to head out because of the 'long drive' home.  Then we'll just go over to my aunt's and visit with them.

And I know I sound spoilt and selfish, but when you have to live with broken promises and teeth pulling to get a single visit out of the man who helped conceive you, you get sort of sick of it.

I was told I was a real daddy's girl when I was a kid...not anymore.

So on a lighter note, I'm heading to the barn tomorrow afternoon with family from my mom's side, at least they won't disappoint me.  They never have without good reason.

Where's Spring?

Holy chow mien it's been quite a while!

But as always, I'm super busy and have barely been on the computer in weeks.

So lately I've made some big purchases in my life, many of them horse equipment.
I got a good deal on all of that and he looks snazzy in all his sexy black tack ;)

So anyways, mostly trail riding has been going on and lots of it.  I've also figured out Apollo's little quirks in the short eight weeks I've gotten to know him and own him.  For one he's a very smart boy, you can see him assess the situation before he reacts resulting in fewer spooks as the days go on.  Like just last week we went on a trail with two other horses and a turkey flew out of the brush, spooking the horse in front, but Apollo just looked at where the turkey was, didn't move for a few seconds, then relaxed.

Another quirk I've figured out is that when he knows we're going out, and he really does know (he's found out that when there are other horses as we're all tacking up outside that he's going on the trail) he'll act up and dance in place, try to untie himself and just be a big butt until we're out in the woods and I get on; then he just mellows out and marches along.

When we're coming back from the trail he slows down quite a bit and will hang his head really low and will flop his ears to the side because he doesn't want to go back to the barn.

There's a spot behind his right cheek bone where when you scratch it he stretches out and forgets he's not a lap dog and ends up sort of stepping on me as he pushes right into me.

He paws when he's impatient to do anything.

He doesn't like when I'm out of his sight when he knows I'm there.

He has a vendetta with tree branches.

When he spooks he drops like how cats do when you scare them.

He has this obsession with my coffee.

He won't let me hug him, but he will wrap his neck around my shoulders when I'm not facing him.

He follows me like a dog, no matter what I'm doing or carrying around (Lately I've been dragging large sticks around so they make loads of noise and he sticks right beside me).

Those are only a few of the quirks and behaviours I've picked up and I know with the years to come there will be more.

But that's all, there are a few movies I've been itching to watch, but haven't been able to due to work >.>

*insert witty title here*

Before I truly begin, I'd like to mention that it is half an hour to midnight right now and I'm mentally and physically exhuasted at the moment.  Hell I'm still in my work clothes and I've been home since 8:30 pm....

Anyways not alot has been going on besides the usual working and heading to the barn whenever I have spare time.  I am off of work for hopefully only tomorrow, so I'm hoping to be able to go and ride Apollo and take my much wanted escape from reality for an hour or two.

So last weekend, which I never blogged due to soreness and a lack of willingness to type even a paragraph here, I went on another trail ride on Saturday which was short, but still enjoyable.  Actually all of my trail rides with Apollo seemed to be the best hour to hour and a half of my entire life lately (not a bad thing).  But when we came back from the trail I wanted to ride a little longer so we went in the arena and let's just say we had a little disagreement on not being able to see the other horses he went out on the trail ride.

I had the bit in his mouth because of the trail, but switched back to the hackamore which stopped a lot of the fighting, but he still wanted to be with his buddies from the trail instead of work.

Sunday I stayed home and recovered from last week of work and the daylight savings thing.

Monday went back and we went on a hour and a half trail ride.  At the beginning I thought I'd have to lunge him out in the arena before heading out because he was dancing almost the entire time I was tacking up, but once we left the barn yard and headed for the trail he settled right down.  It was decided that I'd put the hackamore on him for the trail and the barn owner would take along the headstall with the bit on her saddle incase he wouldn't listen to me out on the trail.

I'm proud to say we didn't have to even think about headstall with the bit as he was perfect the entire time.  Be it I hit another tree with the opposite knee and cut my wrist on a thorn bush some how, but he was amazing.

We all came back after an exceptionally long ride to find the barn owner's new barn cat greeting Apollo at the hitching post.  (Forgot to mention that the barn cat and Apollo seem to enjoy each other's company quite a bit -- as you can see in the picture below).

Well the barn owner suggested I put the cat up in the saddle and see how Apollo reacted to that since he was so comfy with the cat being near his face (and the fact that he was trying to pet the cat with his upper lip).  So I did...and this is the results....

And there you have it people!   I'm so proud of him, he never flinched or looked at what I was doing with the cat while I put him up in the saddle (which he usually does when I'm grooming him and saddling him; he just has to see what I've got).  That cat walked out of the saddle and sat on his rump before walking back into the saddle, laying down into the seat then walked up on his neck and jumped onto the hitch post; my boy barely flinched! :D

Well that's about it for now, I'm tired and have to be up early to get my hair finally cut off.

Busy Week/Weekend

I totally forgot to update this thing, geeze! ^.^'

My only explanation for the infrequent posting is that between work and going to the barn I've been too exhausted to really open up Internet Explorer (which is not what I normally use, but blogger won't cooperate on FireFox) and type anything is past week.  So I sit here now, after just getting back from the barn this frosty afternoon, to tell you a little about what I've been up to as of late.

Last weekend was full of trail rides (Don't remember if I mentioned them so I'm just going to go over this entire week and last weekend).  Of course on Monday I ran into a tree.  Which only happened because Apollo squeezed between the trees, but I was paying more attention to how he was going down the hill rather than where my knees were places and whacked it hard off a nice sized tree.  Let's say hard enough that I thought I shattered my knee cap until we got back and found that I had scrapped it and bruised it under the knee cap.  Now that was Monday's adventure.

I caught him taking the reins off the post and dropping them on the ground.

Thursday I didn't go because of that snow storm since our van's wouldn't have been able to clear the driveway.  But Friday I went out and had just a simple play day in the arena where I spent some time cleaning up the arena while Apollo followed along beside me.

My mom really knows how to take shitty pics of me -_-

This Saturday I spent about an hour desensitizing Apollo in the arena while the trainer worked with his half-sister at the same time.  Then I got up on him and rode around for a bit, even got him up into a jog!  Sadly no pictures from Saturday :/.

Then today I went out for about an hour and just fooled around in the arena with him.

Tomorrow I'm going back out to ride again so hopefully I feel up to posting tomorrow before work :P

Running Out of Catchy Titles

Went out on a trail today, another one only this time I rode Apollo.  It was pretty good to tell the truth and I thoroughly enjoyed the experience.  Ended up putting the bit back in his mouth for the trail, but only because he wasn't too good with the hackamore out on the trail (Will be using hackamore when doing arena work though).

So we headed out on the trail leading the horses (Mostly to tire out Apollo before getting on, but I think I ended up being the winded one lol) then I got on with someone holding the line at first, but soon I felt comfortable enough to take the lead off.

At first he had his head up and he was looking everywhere (as well as nibbling on every twig he could get), but he slowly lowered his head and relaxed.  I was so proud of him!  No spooks or anything (but I kept it to myself because we all know how that works when you speak too soon :P).

Then when we got back he got a nice treat and a quick brushing before going back out into the field with the other horses.

All in all I felt it was great progress.

We were talking about yesterdays little spook and the trainer thinks he wasn't startled really, he was just seeing if I'd fall off again like I did the other time he spooked because after I stayed on he settled down quite a bit and has been listening to me more now.

But before the ride today I decided to just have some fun and play around in the arena with some liberty work.  So I set up pylons to act as barrels and put the in the clover pattern before having him follow me through the pattern, even picked up a trot once I lengthened my stride quite a bit.

Anyways, that's about it for today, will be going out again tomorrow, but don't expect a post until later since I'll probably be too tired between riding and working right afterwards.

Late Post!

As you can tell I never blogged on Thursday nor did I return Friday.  Well that's because this week has been pretty tiresome.  On top of that I'm sick.

But anyways, Thursday (Or as much as I can remember) was okay.  Didn't get to riding, but that was alright with both Apollo and I since my stomach was hurting and I think Apollo just needed a play day.  So we fooled around in the arena with some small jumps and the pylons for an hour and a half.  I have a few pictures that I have to get off my phone that I will post some time.

Then Friday was a no go so today I went out and got some work done.  After a good brushing and combing out I took him into the arena where I unclipped him and did some free lunging since he was being pretty silly.  Next I did some lunging on the line before sending him out again for free lunge before tacking up.

We did have a little moment where he spooked once I was in the saddle, but once he spooked that was it and we had a good 20 minutes in the saddle before I called it a day (I had been working with him for an hour before riding).

Going out again tomorrow afternoon and may be going on a trail ride again; it all depends.

Sorry for the blah post really don't feel like typing, but I know I need to become more committed to these things >.> stupid commitments....

So Sore!

Hey everybody it's Lebtimus Prime here with another update for my new pretty blog!

So I said on Thursday that there wouldn't be a new post until Monday or Thursday and as you can see it's Monday I blog to you.  Which means I got to go on a trail ride this morning.  But it wasn't what I really expected.

When I got to the barn I went out by myself to retrieve Apollo from the field and everything was going fine from there.  I tied him to the hitching post while another guy put some flakes of hay down for both Apollo and his horse.  I went and got the grooming box from inside the barn and then went about my ritual of grooming my slowly roaning boy before getting the saddle and pad out of the barn.  Got him all tacked up without a fuss and then proceeded to lunge him out and slowly cinch him up hole by hole as I've been told to do.  Then on the third cinching a clump of snow fell from the roof over the corner of the arena and everything sort of went down hill from there.

My boy Apollo, spooked at the snow falling and continually spooked as the snow slowly fell clump by clump off the roof.  So I tried lunching him out a bit more before putting the headstall on him and leading him out of the barn.  But he was still a little tense.

Now we were leading out onto the trail, and I was told to hand Apollo's lead to another guy so on our first trail together we'd be ponied (I still had to be safe though!).  But Apollo began to be a little pushy and getting up in the other horse's butts so I switched mounts with the guy holding Apollo.  I didn't disagree because thinking about it, I'm not really a trail rider since I've done more work in an arena setting and on well schooled horses (Reminder: Apollo is going to be four in April; so first young horse I've ever owned).  So I got to ride a fairly tall draft type horse who was quite the sweetheart, while Apollo was rode by someone with more trail experience than I.  Maybe next time (or after a few more trails) I'll be able to sit on Apollo's back and ride him through the trails.

After our hour ride out on the trail we returned to the barn where I lead Apollo back to the barn and we did do a few minutes of arena work (which felt way better on my legs as his barrel isn't as wide as the other horses barrel was ^.^').  I was fully prepared for a spook when the snow began to fall off the roof, but when it happened Apollo just looked up at the roof and kept walking as if it wasn't a bother XD.

Well that's about it for today, I'm tired and sore so I'm going to go and relax.

New Layout, New Beginning

As all that usually read my blog may have noticed, I have remodeled my entire blog with the help of my friend Carl! :D

So now maybe I'll get more views/followers eh? >.>

Anyways went back to where I go for riding lessons to show off Apollo and see the new barn (as well as see Floyd; one of the horses I frequently rode).  Not alot happened today really.

Well, expect a post either Monday or Thursday that's more interesting than this one!

Pretty Good Day for a V Day

I know I said another update would be Thursday, but I had a very tight schedule this morning!

Went to the barn today and was so glad I did, Valentine's Day really put me in a shitty mood this morning.  And I'm not exaggerating, my own grandmother left me alone because she said I looked pissed.

So went to the barn this morning and spent a good hour and a half with my boy -- and what a good boy he was.

I think I addressed this in the last blog update, but I'll repeat it hear.  Apollo was acting worse on Monday than he had in the three (at least I think it's been three weeks; time sure flies) weeks I've had him.  He was refusing to let us put the bit in his mouth and when it was taken out he fussed when we were checking his teeth and we found that his wolf teeth had started to come in.

Now knowing the issue, the problem was solved with a hackamore (a biteless bridle in a sense) and he was totally fine after that (be it he thought that when I went to turn him to the left that it was going to hurt, but he realized that it wasn't going to (that's where the first wolf tooth has poked through)).

Anyways -- maybe I should back track a bit before I continue any further -- I had gone onto Facebook this morning to all the mooshy lovey dovey mess that is Valentine's day and was about to just close everything when I saw a page I follow saying "go hug your honey, and if you don't have one go hug your horse".  So I decided that Apollo could be my valentine! :D

So when I got to the barn I started to groom him outside hitched to the hitching post whilst he at his V-day treat before going into the arena and deciding what I wanted to do first with him.  And since he was being such a goof-ball I decided to lunge him out a bit before tacking up.

After going around a few times both ways I decided he was paying attention enough to saddle up.  Of course the entire time I was getting ready I was expecting a very poor day since I was in such a grumpy (yes I was still a bit pissy).  So I lunged him out again with the saddle and hackamore on, cinching up about three times until it was where it should be and put the reins on before I got on.

And what happened next totally brought me out of my dark mood and made me the happiest girl in the world.

I started attached to the lunge line since I was new to the hackamore, but I finally got him to neck rein a bit with one hand! :D  Still have to work at it, but hey I take what I can get :P.

Then I was asked if I wanted to try off the line and I quickly said yes, and it was the best ride I'd ever had (maybe a little better than the first time I was let off the line, but that was also a good day).

I ended the ride on a good note and just in time to quickly un-tack and give him another treat before I had to go.

So that's about all that really happened this morning (besides work, but who wants to hear about that anyways?).  I should get to bed, though, since I need to be up early tomorrow morning.  And I don't know when the next update will be since I'm not sure when I'll be out to the barn again.  I'm hoping for Monday afternoon since I have the day off from work, but if not there will be a new update on Thursday!

Another Day

Alright, this should be the last post til Thursday!

Went back to the barn today to see Apollo for another ride and session, but something was a bit off.

For starters he didn't want to put the bit in his mouth and continuously threw his head up when I tried to get it into his mouth.  After some fight he finally took it.

Then while riding he kept fighting the bit when I tried to turn him to the left, but not so much when going right.

So after a while the trainer told me to jump off and she checked his mouth to find that his wolf teeth were coming in and low behold the bit was hitting right on it!

After clearing up the reason to why he was resistant, the trainer went and got a hackamore and he was much better.

Anyways, besides the tooth issue it was a good ride.

And that's about it for today, nothing too eventful to write besides that.

The Next Step

I can already see that Apollo is giving me the motivation to update this blog more often, heh.  I think this is the third post in about a week?  No idea, but anyways.

I went out to see my pretty boy (Also would like to add here that when I put on Facebook that I was going to see my 'pretty boy' I had to correct people that I didn't have a boyfriend, but it was my horse; quite hilarious) today and I think we've reached the next step.  Today was the first day that I rode him off the trainer's lunge line.

Now maybe I should back up and explain what I mean.

I bought Apollo about three-four weeks ago and since then I have been boarding him back there as I work with him.  So whenever I got up on him the woman who's helping me with him would attach a lunge line to his halter (which is kept on along with the bridle) and has been working with me in getting used to him.

So anyways, today I decided before I left the house that I was going to take that security blanket off and get me used to not having someone right beside me.

It went better than I thought it would.

At first she had the lead on and had me go through the 'woah's, 'step back's and half circles, until she felt it was time to take the lunge line away and let me have free 'rein'.  At first he thought we were still attached to the lunge line so was confused when I asked him to turn in the opposite direction away from the trainer.  But soon he got the hang of it and I must say it was amazing.  Here I was, once used to only old and school horses, riding a 3 year old without anyone standing next to me.

We weaved some pylons and walked over a few poles along with the usual circles, stopping and backing up.

I kind of had a feeling it would be a good ride today when I was lunging him and cinching up, he was quite responsive and calm with only mild distractions from the grain room door opening (lol).

Can't wait to go out and see my boy again tomorrow (if weather permits) and can't wait to hit the trails in the summertime.

Bummer Start to the Weekend

Well it's Saturday here and I just came in from the cold about half an hour ago after shovelling the white sh*t known as snow off my mom's car.  The things I do to see my horse, I tell ya.

So on Thursday I got a call saying I'd be off work until Monday so I thought, 'Sweet I can spend all of tomorrow with Apollo!'  Yeah, no.

Friday morning it started to snowstorm so badly that I ended up having to cancel my visit out to see him and spent the entire day sitting in bed watching Korean TV shows and drinking coffee...not that I'm complaining, I love them :|

But I digress, this blog isn't about my slight obsession with Korean shows and caffeine.

Though I could surely go for a cup of java right about now >.>

Anyways, tomorrow I plan to head out in this Winter Wasteland (I will never call it a 'Winter Wonderland'...EVER) and see my baby boy Apollo.

Well, lunch is being called, better go while the getting's good >.>

Later Days Eh!

A New Year

*Blow dust off of blog*

It's been quite a while since I last posted something here!

And as you can see, though it is very much late for this announcement, we are all still alive! :D Isn't it amazing? :P

Yes, the mayan's were wrong, the world didn't end in a big fiery ball of crazy nor did the zombies rise from their graves to eat the flesh of the living.

It just started to snow...

But that isn't why I'm blogging after months of nothingness.

I'm actually here to announce something big, something that has been in the mix since last summer.

I've bought a horse.

Yes, four to five years after I was forced to give away the two older mares we had next door I have finally picked up the reins and got back in the saddle.

His name is Apollo and he's a 3 going on 4 year old registered paint gelding.

At the moment I'm refreshing him since he was off part of last year, but so far we're doing good; except for today -- he was being kind of a butt (his teenager day).

He's going to be my trail riding mount, mostly, but I do plan on showing him once he's a little older and just in the fun little shows.  At the moment I can't really do a circuit or anything like that :P

Another thing, which I don't think I've mentioned yet (and if I have I apologize for repeating myself) I've switched to western riding.  I find it much more relaxing than english riding (but that's just my opinion, no one needs to bit my head off for my own opinion).

Anyways, I don't have much more to say for the moment besides that I will try to keep this thing updated on my experience with Apollo.
